Term dates

The current term is due to end in mid-December. The Oxford and Abingdon classes will start again the week beginning 4 January 2021 - hopefully in person, otherwise online (via Zoom). There is still no news as to when the Beacon in Wantage might reopen. However, the Advanced class that normally takes place there is continuing online, with a monthly face to face class in Stanford in the Vale as well (depending on whatever coronavirus restrictions are in place).

There will also be an online Beginners class starting Tuesday 5 January, 7-8 pm, initially as a 6-week course. If you sign up for the 6 weeks, you'll get your first lesson free, so the course fee will be £30 instead of £36! There is also a drop in option of £7 per lesson. Email Loreley to book your place.

For the face to face classes, various safety measures have been put in place to comply with government guidelines, including social distancing. This means class size is strictly limited and booking essential. Contact Loreley to book your place.

If you've never been to a belly dance class before, the start of each new term is an excellent time to join one! We'll begin with the absolute basics. Don't worry if you think you've got two left feet and a total lack of coordination, or you just feel very self-conscious - relax! The classes are fun and friendly and you'll learn how to belly dance move by move. No previous dance experience necessary.

Class fees

Oxford and Abingdon in person classes: The term fee (for one weekly class) is payable in two halves, each half term costing £42. This is for the 12-week term starting in January 2021 (4 January to 22 March in Oxford & 7 January to 25 March in Abingdon).

There is currently no drop in option for in person classes.

Online classes: £36 for 6 weeks (or £30 if your first lesson is your first online class), or £7 (drop in)

All class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. These are uncertain times, so should any face to face classes be cancelled then the value of any 'unused' class fees may either be carried over to whenever in person classes resume again, or be used towards the cost of online sessions.

Private tuition

Loreley also offers private tuition. Email loreleyrice@gmail.com or call 01367 710652 for further details.

What to wear

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in, such as leggings or joggers and a T-shirt, and bring a long scarf or shawl to tie round your hips. Wear flat, flexible-soled shoes or dance barefoot. Soft ballet or jazz shoes are ideal. Trainers are too clumpy. Eventually you may find you want to dress up more in a colourful skirt, top, and hip scarf dripping with beads and coins!
